Rocoto Rooftop at night, on the fifth floor of Living by Armóniko: date night can start without leaving the building.

For a romantic dinner in Laureles, Medellín, start around Segundo Parque: Rocoto Rooftop serves Peruvian cuisine and signature cocktails on the fifth floor of Living by Armóniko, and La Pampa, a steakhouse two minutes away, offers hotel guests a complimentary starter or dessert. Here is how to pick a table, when to book and how to make the night last.

Where can you have a romantic dinner in Laureles?

From the hotel, the easiest date-night options are around Segundo Parque. For views and cocktails, Rocoto Rooftop, on the fifth floor of Living by Armóniko, serves Peruvian cuisine with signature cocktails; for steak and wine, La Pampa is a two-minute walk away. Either way, you can stroll back to your suite afterwards.

The real advantage of dining in this corner of the neighborhood is that you don't need a car or a long ride across town: you leave your suite, have dinner and walk home along tree-lined streets. The options in this guide are the building's own restaurants and La Pampa, a hotel partner; Segundo Parque and La 70 have many more restaurants and bars if you'd rather explore on your own. These are the four kinds of date night we suggest from here:

  • Views and cocktails: Rocoto Rooftop, designed for sunset and evening.
  • Classic steakhouse: La Pampa, right on Segundo Parque de Laureles.
  • Casual and unhurried: 123 Wok or Torrealta, inside the same building.
  • Just the two of you: a dinner you cook together in your suite's kitchen, then a nightcap on the balcony.

Why is Laureles a good neighborhood for date night?

Laureles is a leafy, residential and very walkable neighborhood. Artist Pedro Nel Gómez laid it out from 1943 with circular streets that break away from the usual grid, and in 2023 Time Out named it the coolest neighborhood in the world for its mix of laid-back vibes, nightlife and a traditional Colombian feel.

For couples, that means something simple: you can walk hand in hand before or after dinner without feeling you are in a tourist bubble. Segundo Parque de Laureles is the natural meeting point, ringed by neighborhood restaurants, cafés and bars, while Carrera 70, known as La 70, is where the party is if the night runs long. A local tip

The circular streets of Laureles confuse plenty of visitors: a road that looks straight slowly curves and drops you somewhere else. Save the hotel address, Circular 75 #38-35, on your phone and use it to find your way back after dinner.

What is dinner like at Rocoto Rooftop?

Rocoto Rooftop sits on the fifth floor of Living by Armóniko and is the most complete option for a romantic dinner without leaving the hotel. It brings traditional Peruvian flavors into a contemporary kitchen, with ceviche and signature dishes, plus a cocktail list designed for sunset and evening, with views over Laureles and Segundo Parque.

What to keep in mind when booking

  • Book ahead. Rocoto is one of our guests' favorite spots; you can request a table on WhatsApp at +57 301 143 2786.
  • Mention the occasion. If it's an anniversary, a proposal or a birthday, say so when you book.
  • Arrive before dark. Going up while there is still light lets you watch the sky change over the neighborhood as your first cocktail arrives.
  • Order to share. A ceviche in the middle of the table and a signature cocktail each is an easy way to start the evening.

You'll find more about Rocoto and the other options in the building on our hotel restaurants and rooftop page.

Which romantic restaurants are a short walk from the hotel?

Besides Rocoto, La Pampa is a two-minute walk away: a steakhouse on Segundo Parque de Laureles that welcomes Living by Armóniko guests with a complimentary starter or dessert. Inside the same building, 123 Wok and Torrealta add more casual plans, both with 10% off the whole menu for hotel guests.

La Pampa: steak and wine two minutes away

La Pampa is at Transversal 39 #76-41, right on Segundo Parque. It's the pick for a classic dinner: grilled meats, a glass of red and unhurried conversation. To claim the complimentary dish, just show your room key card.

123 Wok and Torrealta: date night, no dress code

Not every romantic dinner needs a tablecloth. 123 Wok, on the first floor, serves contemporary Asian cuisine with bowls, pokes and bold flavors. Torrealta, on the second floor, is the building's craft brewery, with pizzas and tapas to share; its 10% guest discount applies from 3 p.m. See all the conditions on our guest perks with partners in Laureles page.

Can you have a romantic dinner in your suite?

Yes. Every suite at Living by Armóniko has a fully equipped kitchen, so you can cook something simple together, eat in your suite and step out onto your private balcony later. To surprise your partner, message the hotel on WhatsApp before you arrive to ask whether special decorations are possible, the options and the cost (they're not included in the rate).

That's the point of staying at a boutique hotel in Laureles with 14 apartment-style suites: the freedom of an apartment with the attention of a small hotel. For a dinner at home, the Deluxe Suite is the roomiest: 62 m² (about 670 sq ft), a King bed, a full kitchen and a separate living room. The Comfort Suite, 27 m² with a Queen bed, is the one the hotel describes as a perfect retreat for couples. Compare both in our guide to a romantic getaway in Laureles.

Two practical notes: the hotel is smoke-free, and the minibar is not included in the room rate, so plan ahead for whatever you want on hand for a toast.

How do you plan a full date night in Laureles?

A great date night in Laureles has three parts: sunset, dinner and a walk. Start with a cocktail on the rooftop or with the Viewpoints Tour, which visits some of Medellín's highest lookouts as the sun goes down; move on to your booked dinner, and end with a stroll around Segundo Parque on the way back to your suite.

Practical tips for international couples

If your trip falls in September, note that Colombia celebrates Amor y Amistad, its version of Valentine's Day, on the third Saturday of the month, so book early. Tipping is voluntary: restaurants may suggest up to 10%, and you can accept, change or decline it. Evenings in Medellín are cool, so bring a light jacket.

  • Special dates. Amor y Amistad is the big romantic date on the Colombian calendar; in 2027 it falls on Saturday, September 18 (in 2026 it was September 19). If you're traveling in February, the 14th works just as well for a special dinner. Ideas for both in our guide to Valentine's Day in Medellín.
  • Tipping. Under Colombia's Law 1935 of 2018, a tip is voluntary. When the bill arrives, staff should ask before adding the suggested amount; it should never be added automatically.
  • Weather. Overnight lows are around 17-18 °C (low 60s °F), and Medellín has two rainy seasons a year; if you book a terrace table, ask for the most sheltered one.
  • Getting back. From Rocoto and La Pampa you can walk. If you want to continue in El Poblado or Provenza, about 20 minutes away, take a taxi or a ride-hailing app.
  • Dietary needs. Mention allergies or preferences when booking, especially for a cuisine rich in fish and seafood like Peruvian.
